Taking Metformin For Polycsyst, Suffering From Side Effects. Any Disadvantage In Switching To Diane35?
I was diagnosed polycystic and my doctor prescribed me a metformin 500 mg 3x a day. I've been taking for 3 years but it is on and off. Due to uneasy to manage especially when I am out of our house or in the mall or traveling due to side effects of metformin is diarrhea. So, I stop taking metformin. I am taking Diane35 for 13 days now. What are the side effects and health disadvantages from switching metformin to Diane35 doc? I really need your help and answer doc. Please... Thanks.
Hi, Thanks for the query. PCOD presents with features like irregular menstrual cycles, anovulation, insulin resistance etc. Metformin acts as insulin sensitizer. And Daine35 is a combined oral contraceptive pill, that will help in regularization of the cycles. Actually these two should be used simultaneously to get good results. As you are having side effects due to metformin, you once consult gynecologist and get evaluated regarding the present status of PCOD and then plan the management accordingly.
