Tear Of Supraspinatus Muscle, Unable To Use Arm, Inflammation Of Shoulder And Pain. What Can Help?

Dr. P. Chin has agreed to repair a 2 cm tear in my supraspinatus, which a chiropractor did to me in Feb of 2013. He says he will be able to take away the pain only. But I have not been able to use this arm as is since the mishap with the chiropractor. So the question is after the surgery and the rehab, if only pain will be taken away, how will I be able to get the arm strong enough to use the good arm like I did before, without getting the surrounding parts of the shoulder inflamed and painful which is what happens now? I need to heal to just do regular things around the house, grocery shopping and driving. All of my life, I have also taken serious my sports which are gym workouts, latin and swing dance, downhill skiing, to cycle, kayaking, doubles tennis & hiking.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, thank you for your question.

If the operation was successful then you should be able after few weeks to start physiotherapy and that will improve the power and function in your arm and be able to do your daily regular activities.

Best wishes
