Teenager. Extremely Sensitive Outside Middle Foot. History Of Hitting Hurdle. No Bruising. X-ray Report Normal. Nerve Damage?
My 15 year old daughter injured her foot 5 days ago running in a hurdle race. She hit a hurdle and landed funny, but did not fall. It was painful with burning and shooting pains. She iced the injury and tried to limit her activity over the next few days, but it wasn't getting better. Took her for an x-ray 2 days later that came back fine. It is the outside middle of her foot and is extremely sensitive to the slightest touch, but there is no bruising or discoloration. Is the problem nerve related and if so what is the best treatment? Thanks
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The extreme sensitivity on the outside of the foot is likely to be due to soft tissue injury itself in the area. A nerve damage is not likely due to a superficial injury. It is likely to heal spontaneously. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
