Teenager. Fatigue, Oversleeping, Laziness, No Motivation, Procrastination. Signs Of Depression?

hello! i am a 17 year old female. i always feel really tired daily even after getting enough rest, sometimes i even oversleep but always feel lazy. i also have no motivation at all, i dont have a job or excercise and i procrastinate a lot even though i know i shouldn't. i thought maybe it could be linked to depression because for awhile i thought i had depression after looking up the symptoms but i am not sure. help!

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through your available history.

You are having depression. You should consult psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and management. Doctor will rule out physical causes of your symptoms like thyroid dysfunction or vitamin B12 deficiency or low hemoglobin etc.

You may get benefit by Antidepressant drugs like sertraline or fluoxetine. You may get prescription for your doctor for the same.

Meanwhile you should also do relaxation therapy like breathing exercise and yoga or meditation for better control over your depression.

Thanks.

Psychiatrist Dr. Srikanth Reddy's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
From the description that you have give, it appears that you have lot many depressive symptoms. You need to see a psychiatrist, who would like to interview you and identify if you really have a depression. If it is a depression, you should not delay seeking help as the more the amount of time you spend in depression, the more difficult it will become for you to get treated.
There are many medications, that will be useful for the treatment of depression like escitalopram, mirtazapine, agomelatonin, and venlafaxine etc.
Along with these medications, the doctor will also consider you for some talk therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy etc.
Do regular exercise and take plenty of food.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
