Teenager. Hanging Piece Of Tonsil After Swallowing During Throat Infection Which Has Shrunk. Clear Throat. Normal?
I just read of a 24yr old with a hanging piece of tonsil. This same thing happened to my 17yr old daughter after swallowing hard during a throat infection. She has been getting them seasonally for years. It seemed to have broken off of her tonsil, it looked a little swollen, and now that all is clear in her throat, the fleshy piece shrunk.

Hi,
The shrunken tonsil is due to recovering from infection. Usually the tonsil will increase in size during any infection and will become normal size with recovering. If you upload a photo with explanation then it will be better for us to tell whether any problem like broken off tonsil etc. Usually tonsil cannot be broken with swallowing hard.
Hope this helps you.
Regards
