Teenager. On Loestrin For Acne. Cold Followed By Swollen Gums, Canker Sores In Mouth And Throat Followed By Hives In Groin, Chest And Armpits. Help
my doctor has been taking Loestrin 24 FE for approx 2 months. (well 1 week to go).
She is 13, taking this for acne.
About 1 week ago, she developed a cold, which we thought was a basic cold.
but now she has swollen gums, canker sores on the inside of her mouth, roof, and back of the throat.
3 days ago, she started amoxycillin in case she had a bacteria infection, but the doctor thought it was viral, and the BC was a non issue.
tonight, she is covered in hives in her groin, back chest, and armpits.

Hi cold followed by swelling and hives is typical of acute urticaria due to superadded infection.acute urticaria is due to allergens like food.insect stings and dyes etc.use atarax 25mg at night.alaspan in the morning .use of antibiotic is a must as there is superadded bacterial infection .use a deworming agent weekly once .apply calamine lotion over the hives
