Teenager. Purple Swollen Vein Like Hard Lumpy Bruise On Back Of Leg. No Pain, No History Of Fall. Ideas?

Hi, My 16 year old son has, what looks like, a purple swollen vein about a 1/2 inch long on the back of his leg. Kind of looks like a bruise but doesn't "feather" out or lighten up in color around the sides. It doesn't hurt and he didn't even know it was there so I'm not sure how long it's been there. When you run your finger over it it does feel hard like a lump. When touched it does not hurt. Not sure if we need to worry about it. If it helps, he is a cross country runner but has not fallen or been hit with anything like branches.

Hi,
From history it seems that there might be having prominent superficial vein and it has no any significance.
Observe it for some time, any problem is there consult your doctor.
Ok and take care.
