Teenager. Stopped Growing Taller, Less Facial Hair. Possible Growth In Height In Near Future?
Hello. In August i will turn 19 years old.My height hasnt changed in about a year and a half (16-17 months) I have never really had big growth spurts.I think that i started puberty around 15 years of age.My body looks normal for a a guy.I have facial hair but i can't grow a full beard (it's not very thick and curly)i shave every 2 weeks. My pubir hair is bigger and thicker though.I also have armpit hair.I have a brother who is 6'0 and is about 6 sms taller than me as i'm about 176-177 sm.Some of my friends had big growth spurts and even grew 4-5 inches in 3 months. My question is even though i haven't grown in such a long time is it still possible that i can gain 1 inch by the time i celebrate my 21 year. Also is it common for a guy to stop growing for 2 years and after that gain and extra inch.Thank you for your time.
Height of an individual is determined by Genetics, Environmental & Nutritional factors and Hormonal factors (most important the Growth Hormone secreted by pituitary gland in brain) An individual stops growing in height after the fusion of the Epiphyses (growth plates) of the long bones, which occurs by the age of 19-22 yrs in males.
So...as you belong to the above mentioned age group, you may still have a chance of achieving your dream height. Make sure that you are taking a healthy & balanced diet, exercise regularly & avoid stress. Protein rich diet like soya, groundnut, pulses, etc should be incorporated in your diet plan.
One more thing...avoid consuming any over the counter medication which claim to boost your growth hormone & increase height...it may be harmful.
Wishing you Good Health. Thanks and take care.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM. Growth will occur till your epiphysis closes. If any patholohy like lack of GH or thyroid hormone then there may be reduced growth. If not you will grow till epiphyseal closure. Have adequate regular sleep as these grawing hormone has more function in deep sleep, plenty of fluids, nutritious diet with required calorie and regular outdoor stretching exercises.
