Tested Positive For Hsv 1 And 2. Can Any Other Virus Affect The Test And Should I Consider Western Bolt Test?
I tested positive for hsv1 and 2 by herpesselect igg blood test with one blood sample. Is there a possibility it can be wrong? Can another virus in my system have affected the test? I have never had a symptom. Should I consider the western blot test? if so how long should I wait between tests? Thank you.
A herpes virus IgG test only means that you were exposed to the virus in the past. It does not mean that you have an active infection. There are no other viruses that interfere with the test that I know of. Herpes is extremely common. Many people have been exposed to the virus and don't know it. The virus hibernates in the nerves and comes out during times of stress, if at all. If you don't have any symptoms, you do not need treatment for it at this time. Herpes type 1 is what is commonly known as oral herpes. It is not sexually transmitted. Herpes Type 2 is genital herpes. I would not worry about the western blot test. If you have symptoms of herpes, which are quite obvious, then you could pursue treatment. Don't worry about it too much, these viruses are very common.
