Tingling In Foot When Putting Pressure. What Is Wrong?

The back of my left foot right above the bottom of my heel started a sharp tingling/ weird uncomfortable feeling a couple weeks ago while I was walking up my steps. It really alarmed me all of a sudden when it happened and it felt really weird but after a couple of minutes it really felt ok but i noticed that feeling would mildly reoccur whenever I put any pressure or stretched my foot for a couple weeks after that incident happened. Well I woke up today and it has slowly started bothering more and more and although I wouldn t say it was hurting bad but its uncomfortable and now I m starting to worry what is wrong. I would really appreciate any kind insight you may be able to give me regarding this, thanks Jeff Griffin

Hello jeff,

Pain in this area could primarily be an ankle joint problem. if the pain is more severe upon waking up, it is due to an arthritis or joint swelling.
Pain killers can help, but to better address the problem, have your blood uric acid checked. If it is elevated, it could be the cause of pain.
There are several medications to correct high uric acid level.

Thank you,

Dr. Eric

Dear Jeff,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to compression of nerve root which supplies the back of left foot.

Kindly consult a Neurologist & get a proper clinical examination done, including nerve conduction studies.
Investigation like X ray & MRI of the lumbo-sacral spine will be helpful in detecting the exact site of compression.

Take care.
