Tiny White Dot On Cornea, Causes Irritation. Upper And Lower Eyelid Surgery Done. Causes?
I had upper and lower eyelid surgery 5 weeks ago. No major complications so far but about a week ago, a tiny white dot appeared on the cornea which is rubbing against the lower eyelid margin. It s not painful and my eyes are not red but it is very irritating. Size of the dot has not changed but it did disappear for a couple of days and then returned. What could it be?

Dear Tsewenying,Hi..The tiny dot on the surface of your cornea is due to repeated rubbing of the lid margin on corneal surface causing micro trauma or erosion .When repeated erosion happens which may be termed as reccurent corneal erosion the muck and epithelial debris of the eye along with drops get deposited over that erosion giving a white dot shape.If it heals it may or maynot form a scar.Since the erosion in your case is superficial the healing is causing the white dot to disappear. But if this phenomena recurs and the corneal erosion is deep then on healing it may leave a permanent scar.As if for now you don't have to worry.Just use lubricating drops for your eyes.If the whiteness persist with pain and redness rush to your nearest eye specialist to rule out non healing ulcer or any other pahology..TC..Dr Ajay Shankar Kar
