Your grandson is growing and thriving well. Preschool children upto 5 years can actually get upto 10 upper respiratory tract infections per year. Most ( 90%) of these are viral illnesses and just require supportive therapy like paracetamol and ibuprofen syrup and plenty of fluids during such episodes. Things like Vitamin C improve child's immunity. Multivitamins are available over the counter and can be given. Antibiotics MUST NOT be given for every such episode. The recent onset of snoring probably means he has developed some adenotonsillar hypertrophy which means adenoid glands behind the nose and tonsils at the back of the mouth are enlarged and causing partial obstruction while the child sleeps. It would be best to consult an ENT surgeon if he gets more than 6 episodes of bacterial tonsillitis per year. They might advise for tonsils and adenoids to be taken out.
