Tonsils Are Large And Inflamed. Have Dark Red Things. On Double Doses Of Penicillin. Have An Operation. Should I Be Worried About The Findings?

When does tonsillitis become serious for hospital? My tonsils are large and inflamed extending down the back of my throat with parts dark red looking like it will bleed just like it did before the episode. I m on double doses of penicillin which I am finding it hard to keep solid foods down. I have an operation on the 29th and my doctor says we can keep me on the drugs until then. Is there something else I can do? It is effecting my work as I work at a call centre. Is it bad to be on penicillin that long 2grams a day?

I have gone through your query regarding enlarged, dark red tonsils they are tender also and you are getting antibiotic penicillin 2 gm / day as a conservative treatment and after this your surgery is being planed.

Here I would like to tell you that at present you are having acute exacerbation on chronic tonsillitis therefore your doctor had planed to put you on antibiotic for some times to control the acute phase and than after elective surgery tonsillectomy will be done.

I am agree with the line of action of your doctor and your second question is concerned with doses of penicillin, for this you need not worry this is within range.
