Took Antibiotics For Bladder Infection Symptoms But Test Result Came Negative. How To Stop Symptoms From Coming Back?
HI i am Chris, i started having bladder infection symptoms so i started an antibiotic for 3 days (last week Monday) however i wasn t getting any better so i went to the Minute Clinic which they sent me to the ER and they gave me fluids n IV antibiotics but no more antibiotics bc test result came all back negative from taking the antibiotics on my own for the 3 days. now i feel as if my symptoms are coming back. Im back in misery again as if im starting all over again. I dont know what i should do next ?
Hi Chris, It is important to get your urine microscopy test and ultrasonography of kidneys, bladder and prostate. Even though the culture may not grow any organism after taking antibiotics, your urine will probably show increased number of WBCs or pus cells and RBCs if you have a UTI. The ultrasonography will find out if you have other conditions that mimic a UTI but will not respond to antibiotics (e.g. a small stone). Meanwhile, drink lot of fluids to flush out any infection. I am available to answer any further clarifications. Please mention your exact symptoms, your age and any associated medical conditions you may have. Wish you a speedy recovery, Best regards, Dr. Raguram.
