Took Cortisone Injection In Knee After Aspiration Of Fluid. Having Swollen Knee, Burning, Itching. Taking Benedryl. Alternative Solution?

I had a coritsone injection in my knee yesterday after aspiration of fluid. since 30-40 minutes after injection my face ad chest are severly red, my knee is burning and itching, but not as swollen and I feel like i am on fire. I have been taking benedryl 50mg po q4hrs with little relief from itching and red burning chest and face. what else can i do

Hi

It looks like an allergic reaction, you can continue to take benedryl for the time being, if it does not settle down, you may need cortisons either as a tblet or in the injection form.

Steriods are the most potent antiallergic medicines, but are not usedas first line becuase of the side effects.
