Top Of Thumb Felt Sore, Tightness Seen. What Causes This ?

A week ago the top of my thumb felt sore then there was a tightness (swelling) and it started to go black (bruise) to half way done my thumb. Even though the pain (pressure) was relieved quite quickly It stayed black for two days and then cleared. This happed yesterday again. I was not doing anything to really cause this (holding a plate). I have hyper-tension and take Ramapril.

Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

It looks from your details that this problem happened due to mild ischemia of the vessels supplying to your thumb.This may occur due to presence of spasm in arteries or due to clogging of vessels.This needs attention by your doctor.I will advice you to consult to your doctor & have some blood examination like lipid profile ,D dimer test,etc. for this.Till then do not keep your thumb in dependent position,keep it in elevated position.
