Treating Corn On Foot By Mosco Pads. Hole Inside When Center Of Corn Removed. Normal? Permanent Cure?
Hello, I have been treating a corn on the ball of my foot with max. strength Mosco pads. I kept the pads on until they came off in the shower, then pumiced and replaced. Today after I pumiced, it appeared that the center of the corn was removed and there is a small hole where it was. Is this normal? How do I complete treatment to make sure it doesn't return? Will the hole heal on it's own? Should I keep using the pads? Please help. Thank you!
Hi, Thanks for writing to us. Right now i would advise not to use corn caps anymore as it can lead to excessive maceration and erosion. Just use a good emollient preferably lactic acid and urea based to keep feet moist. The depressed area in centre/hole will heal on its own. If the corn goes away completely, to prevent recurrence wear soft sole sandals or shoes and use an emollient daily. Also dip your feet in warm water once a week and by using a pumice stone you can remove any thick skin that forms later. Usually if a corn is small it will heal with corn cap but sometimes other dermatologist guided procedures like paring or corn excision is required. Hope this helped.
