Treatment For Ear Infection With Discharge

My son had tubes put in his ears about 3 weeks ago due to chronic ear infections. He did wonderfully and continues to. But tonight I noticed he had some drainage coming out of the left ear. He says it hurts. The drainage is kinda tan colored with a horrible odor. He goes in a week for his post-op f/u, so my question is should I wait or go ahead and take him in...? Thanks!
