Treatment For Pain In Headache After Taking Resperidone?
hi Doctor, My brother is on Resperidone 1mg from past one month. He read lot in the internet and now got scared of all the bad reviews out there and want to stop it,
His case, He suffered from kind of paronoid or misinterpretation of sounds , getting distrubed with any sound and making a meaning out of it, So doctor gave him resperidone from 1mg to 4mg for 2 months and then he got some pain in the head and doctor reduced it to 2mg and then to 1mg.
The medicine does have its share of troublesome side effects but headache is not commonly seen in users of risperidone.
There is a trend among some psychiatrists to user other alternatives such as olanzapine and aripiprazole. But almost all of the anti-pschotic drugs have these side effects and none is absolutely safe.
So one thing is to really confirm if headache is because of risperidone here. Has there been any change in the severity of headche after reducing the dose? Because it should reduce usually if risperidone has been the caustive agent.
1 mg of risperidone is less likely to cause much of the serious side effects seen with risperidone. So if he does not complain of any other symptoms I would suggest to continue the medication if the symptoms of schizophrenia have reduced significantly.
