Treatment For Pain Under Ribs, Nausea, Bloating After Injury?
Was sledding with my kids yesterday and landed real hard on my left side ribs at the front. I was winded yes but don't think I've broke any ribs. However the pain today got very bad quickly when I tried to shovel snow. I can still function but it's been very hard getting in and out of the car and certain movements I just can't bare. It feels like the is pain under the ribs. A sicky feeling and I'm very bloated.
Hi ! Good morning. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
With your kind of history,if I were your doctor, i would advise you for a routine blood tests, a plain X ray chest and an ultrasound abdomen after a physical examinationi to rule out any kind of internal injury. Till reports come, I would advise you for some kind of over the counter available anti inflammatory agent, and deep breathing exercises, apart from avoiding any kind of heavy work for the time being. Further management would depend on the reports of investigations.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in solving this problem. Thanks for using the healthcare magic forum for your health query. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
