Twisted My Ankle, Hurts, Burning Sensation. Sprained? Broken?

My name is Justin. I walking down the stairs today and skipped the bottom step on accident. When I skipped I twisted my ankle and heard it snap. I can still walk on it with weight on it, it just really hurts. My foot is also having a burning sensation on the bottom left side. I am keeping it elevated. I think it is only sprained, but is it possible that it is broken?

Hi,
Fracture gives rise to pain++, swelling.A hair line fracture can present slight swelling & painful movements.
Sprains are due to injury/tearing of ligaments supporting joint. The burning you have is due to involvement of the nerve there. So even sprain needs a complete rest to the part, anti inflammatory medicines, elastic bandaging for a couple of weeks.
Ankle being a weight bearing joint needs to be treated carefully, completely.
It is also advised to go for X ray of ankle P/A & lateral views to exclude hair line fracture. If neglected, it may turn in chronic pain, making life miserable.
Do consult an Orthopedic doctor for management.
Thanks
