Twitching Of Knee Muscles With Pain. What Is The Treatment?
The muscles around my knee cap made my knee cap twitch today during my basketball practice. At the time it hurt to have my leg straight but it was okay if i bent it. Now, about 5 hours later, the inside muscles of my knee are hurting and the pain is evident when i bend my left leg. What should I do so it doesn t hurt anymore and how can i prevent it from happening again?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
I have read your query in detail. The symptoms you have described are more likely to be symptoms of muscles strain.
To get relief from the pain and for quick healing:
1. Do hot fomatation at the site.
2. Apply local anti-inflammatory gel 2-3 times a day.
3. Take anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen to reduce pain and local swelling or inflammation.
4. Do not lift weight or try to do exercise that involve painful muscles. Give proper time for the injury to heal.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.
Dr Saurabh Gupta
