Type 2 Diabetic, On Metformin. Is There Anything I Can Do To Get Glucose Down Short Of Starting Insulin Injections?
I am a type 2 diabetic. My blood sugar is running about 300, even upon waking. I am on metformin 500 mg 1 time per day (I am about 30-40% Compliant because I get terrible diarrhea from it). Is there anything I can do to quickly get my glucose down short of starting insulin injections?
Hi definitely , yo do have lot of options before considering insulin. You are on lowest dose of metformin ,if you are able to tolerate we can increase metformin to usual doses.. other wise we do have a lot of other alternatives that can be tried before insulin
It is difficult to control the blood sugar with irregular medication. So if you're not able to tolerate met for min due to diarrhea than my advice is to start other OH A'S to control blood sugar. Now insulin has to be started to bring down the blood sugar from 300. Consult and discuss with you're doctor and keep regular appointment with him.
