Type One Diabetes. Prescribed Dicloflex Tablets, Taking Methotrexate Medication. Drug Interactions And Side Effects?
I started taking methotrexate 2 weeks ago and i m a type 1 diabetic, was prescribed dicloflex 50 mg tablets and reading the precautions became worried when diabetes and metho came up as a problem with this medication . I am wondering if there is anything I should be concerned with or am I ok to start it as it was prescribed by my doctor who does have a clue :)
You can go ahead with your medication prescribed. Since your doctor is not concerned you should be believe his confidence. If there is an indication for prescription of Methotrexate then it needs to be taken.
Precautions may worry you, hence you can double check with the pharmacist about the interactions with these drugs.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Methotrexate per se is not contraindicated in patients with diabetes. It also does not have any significant interaction with insulin. It may worsen your glucose control but I am sure if you are diligent with your diet and we modify the insulin dosage appropriately. I am sure you're in good hands and you can start taking this medication as prescribed.
Regards
