The enlargement of the prostate is age-related, and can be controlled. This can lead to recurrent urinary infections. If you are a female and have experienced an incomplete emptying of the bladder the causes could be numerous (Eg. uterine fibroids, uterine fistulas, tumors/cancer, etc.). The bowel condition that you suffered from could also have caused this, due to irritation of the bowel and thus its enlargement, the bowel can put pressure on the bladder causing such a presentation. But, the pressure on the bladder and the urinary symptoms should have subsided along with the normalization of the bowel.
