Ultrasound Shows Thyroid Nodule Along With Tenderness. Thyroid Function Test Normal. What Are The Possibilities Of Malignancy?
My wife has thyroid nodule (3×1.7cm), increased vascularity & normal cervical lymph nodes according to ultrasound done.. No pain but tenderness recently.. the thyroid function test normal.. the blood screen shows WBCs 13.6 & ESR 73.. FNAB will be done next week.. So, what are the possibilities of malignancy?
Generally speaking out of all thyroid nodules only less than 20% can be malignant and that too if a thyroid scan is done which shows cold nodule. FNAC is best way to exclude possibility of malignancy as no other test can confirm this possibility. with best wishes Dr Chowhan
