Unable To Have Bowel Movement And Feeling Bloated After Radical Hysterectomy. How To Ease The Bowel?
hi there....I had a radical hysterectomy last Thursday, And I am unable to have a bowel movement. I am blown up like a balloon with gas, And cannot have a bm...is there anything that I can do to speed things along...I am in quite a bit of pain from the constipation right now.
Ultrasonography and an X-ray of abdomen will tell about any intestinal obstruction, fecolith formation and so on. If there are fecoliths an enema may solve your problems.
If there are signs of intestinal obstruction then you need admission to the hospital to see for the conservative management with drip and suction method and if there is no relief then you may need a look-in procedure and get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
