Unable To Open Mouth After Getting Tooth Cavity Filled. Normal?

Hi, I got two cavities filled over a week ago. My dentist did numb me a couple of times throughout the procedure. Now my tooth feels better, but i am not able to open my mouth wide at all. Eating has become difficult because the simple task of eating a burger/sub is pretty much impossible. Is this normal? Is some of the medicine from the injection still in my tooth/jaw area? Thanks

Dentist 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

I would like to tell you that there should not be any problem in opening and closing of mouth after getting your tooth filled, according to your symptoms i suppose that there could a presence of any high point or there could be presence of small haematoma due multiple injections.

I would like to encourage you to get a thorough checkup done by the concerned Dentist.
Take lukewarm saline rinses.
Take a course of multivitamin suplements.
If it is a nerve damage it takes a time of six months to year to heal.
If there are presence of high points can be trimmed by the Dentist.

Hope you find this as helpful,

Regards.

Dentist, Periodontics Dr. Aman Bhatia 's  Response
hi
Thanks for the question

as per you said that you are having difficulty in opening the mouth... it happens because of injury to the muscles during procedure or it can be because of high point in the restored teeth which are not allowing your muscles to rest in normal position and causing continuous irritation which in turn causing discomfort to you....

now if its injury to the muscle
than please go for warm saline gargle 3 to 4 times a day
or
if high points please visit your dentist for correction
thank you
