Undergone IVF For Pregnancy. Screening Showed High Risk For Downs. Nose Bone Not Found. When Does It Appears?

Hello Doctor:
I am 47 years old and my wife is 43 years old. My wife got pregnant by IVF using my sperm and my wife's egg.
In the first trimester screening they found increase risk (1:6) for downs. The maternal fetal medicine doctors madeus to go for materniT21 DNA test. The test came clean and also told us the sex of the bay. We as well as the doctors were relieved. Then in the second Trimester did detailed ultrasonography in 16th week. Almost everything turned out to be normal. However, they could not see the nose bone. They asked us to come after one month and go again for sonography. Up to what time the nose bone develops. Is it a matter of concern? We dont want to go for amnio. Thanks, Sincerely

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
This is very sorry to informed you that normally nose bone developed with in 16th week, so in my opinion you should consult your gynaecologist and wait for repeat ultrasonography after 1 month and get your triple marker test and amniocentesis because your wife in her advanced age and chances of Down syndrome increased after 30yrs. of age.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa
