Hashimoto's is an
autoimmune disease, whereby which the immune system recognizes thyroid tissue as foreign and destroys it gradually.
Hashimoto's is commonly associated with other
autoimmune disorders, such as, diabetes and celiac disease (allergy to wheat, rye, barley and their products). It is therefore possible that you may
autoimmune hepatitis. This may account for persistently raised liver enzymes.
Thyroid
hormone replacement therapy for hashimoto's does not ordinarily raise liver enzymes. You should therefore continue to take
Thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
