Urge To Evacuate Immediately After Meals. What Could Be Causing This?
Hi. Almost always I have the need to go to the bathroom (evacuate) after only about 10 min after I eat a meal. It is difficult and embarrassing especially at a restaurant or with friends because I have to excuse myself or sometimes cannot leave the restaurant (ladies room) when everyone else wants to hurry along. Is something wrong with me? Can I prevent this? Thanks for your help
Hi, Thanks for posting your query. If this is of only recent onset, infection has to be ruled out. A stool analysis has to be done. But if this has been for a long time and has been recurrent, then irritable bowel syndrome is a possibility. A complete blood count, stool analysis, blood glucose and thyroid function test may be done. Meanwhile you can consider taking probiotic supplements. Regards, Dr.Ratnakar Kini
