Urine Pregnancy Test Confirmed 5 Weeks Of Pregnancy. Bled Heavily,. Doctors Diagnosed UTI And Not Pregnancy. How Could That Happen?

Recieved positive urine test for pregnancy on thursday and was informed that i was almost 5 weeks pregnant. The day after on a friday i visited the emergency department for bleeding heavily, they did blood work and pelvic exam and told me that i wasnt pregnant because there test was negative. They diagnosed me with a UTI and sent me home. My bleeding the next two days was quite severe with large blood clots, on monday i called the obgyn office and explained my story and they told me i needed to return to the ER, the er insist there is nothing they can do for me. It is now monday afternoon and i still am not only confused but the blood has almost come to a stop and i have a persistant gurgling noise in my stomach. Please help.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If you had a previous positive pregnancy test , followed by bleeding and subsequent negative pregnancy test, it is likely that you may have experienced a miscarriage.

I am sorry.

This would explain the bleeding that you are experienced was likely the miscarriage.

Generally an ultrasound should be done to determine if it was complete or incomplete.
An incomplete miscarriage refers to a miscarriage where there is still residual aspects in the uterus.

I hope this helps
