Using Tritace, Trandate To Control Blood Pressure, Treatment Changed To Twyntra. When Will It Take Effect ?
Hi, I am 75years old and have been using 1xTritace and 4x Trandate to control my blood pressure for several years
with quite good results, until approx 2 months ago when my bp started lifting Taking extra trandate helped but it could not keep it down to a reasonable level. Iam talking of levels 170 to 200 Ihave had my treatment changed by my GP to twyntra 80/10
three days ago and still have high bp 170- 190 .How long does twynsta take to get results I have taken 5 tablets in 3 days the extra 2 tablets on Gp advice. How much can i take if it doesn't subside thank you, AAAAA.
Some effects are seen in a few hours and maximum effects and stabilisation occur over a few days... You were already on two drugs and have been changed to two different classes of drugs.. [Twynsta is telmisartan (Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) and amlodipine (Calcium Channel Blocker). / Tritace is ramipril (ACE inhibitor) / Trandate is labetalol – having both alpha and beta adrenergic receptor blocking effects...] The drugs should be titrated to their maximum doses... if by the end of the week, the control is not satisfactory , most people generally need a third drug from a different class – a diuretic, for example... Discuss with your doctor...

Hi, Thanks for using Healthcaremagic, You are known case of High blood pressure and were taking Ramipril and Labetalol for control of blood pressure. Because of uncontrolled blood pressure your doctor has changed to Telmisartan and amlodipine 80/10 combination. It takes some time before new drug will take it's full effects. Labetalol (Trandate) is beta-blocker/6535?iL=true" >beta blocker and you were taking it since many years it is not advisable to stop beta-blocker suddenly as they can cause rebound high blood pressure. We need to gradually reduce the dose of such drugs before stopping it and we can add other drug to control blood pressure. Please discuss with your Physician. I hope your blood pressure will be controlled in few days. Good Luck. Take care. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
