Using Antidepressant To Cure Back Problem, Need To Clear Throat Every Time, Phlegh Dark Colored. Bromide Side Effect? Concerned
I have had to clear my throat for sometime now. This started when i began to use antidepressant to cure my back problem, which worked. But since then i have had to clear my throat. I complained to the doctor , who adviced that i should take more water since it is a side effect of the drug. But recently i discovered early in the morning the phlegh is dark coloured but after everything is normal , which suggested that it as a result of my bleeding gum. Because the saliva is normal and the phlegh is normal after as well. I have been to the doctor again he gave me Ipratropium bromide because he does not see why it should be. He checked the throat, the neck and all others and it seems normal to him. I am a bit concerned about the side effect of the bromide. What do u think ?
Dear, As per the history you have given and the clinical findings you may be suffering with side effect of ipratropium bromide. Infact most of the antidepresants have anticholinergic / drying side effect. you can stop them and keep some chewing gums. I would suggest you to consult the Specialist if you don’t get relief as on examination the findings may be different and line of treatment may have to be changed.
