Wacked Head Behind The Ear And Having A Bump. Complained Headache. Concerned?
My daughter wacked her head behind the ear as she was getting in the vehicle. She is 20 and didn't complain to much right away but when we go home Saturday night she had me look at it and there was a bump. She complained about a headache quite a bit Sunday. We are scheduled to fly on Tuesday morning for a family trip and I am wondering if I should have it looked at if she is still complaining when she gets up in a few hours. I think I am concerned because of the location of the bump. What do you think?
Hi, The only thing to be concerned about is if there is any bleeding that has occurred intracranially. Sometimes a extradural haematoma ( where there is need to consult a doctor) can be without much symptoms but presenting as just a headache.
see if the pain is only localized to the wound area or it is diffuse. If it is diffuse and more importantly if she has nausea and vomiting, you should consult a neurosurgeon. If headache is mild and without any other symptoms you can observe for a few days , avoid strenuous activities. If it is persisting, say even after a week, then consult a neurosurgeon.
