Was Prescribed Cyclo-progynova After Polyp Removal. Considering The Side Effects Can I Avoid This Medicine?

Hello, I am 33 years old and undergone hysteroscopic removal of polyp. The doctor prescribed cyclo-progynova. However, I hava read before that women with higher level of oestregen are more likely to develop polyp. Is that correct? Is using cyclo-progynova trigger polyp therefore? Moreover, cyclprogynova seems to have many side-effects. What is the trade-of not using cyclo-progynova after hysteroscopic surgery.
Thanks in advance

Hi Melinda,

With regards to polyps you are asking, it is true that high levels of estrogen could be one possible factor. However, there are others like chronic infections of vagina, cervix or uterus together with clogged/congested blood vessels to be considered too as possible factors.

So, in your case, I do not have your entire medical profile to rule other chronic infection and/or blood vessel clotting/congestion.

Cyclo-progynova is a combination therapy (estradiol/norgestrel). Your OG prescribed it for short term use after polyp removal to optimize the hormonal levels and to help your womb recover.

If used in short term and as directed by your OG, no fear for triggering polyp.

Every drug has its potential side effects. If your doctor has prescribed to you, he/she has thought that the benefits you get from using it are higher than the actual side effects.

All the best.
