Was Taking Hydrochlorothiazide. Recommended Hydrochlorot. Is Hydrochlorot And Hydrochlorothiazide The Same Drug?

Is hydrochlorot and hydrochlorothiazide the same drug? If so, why aren't they labeled the same? I have been taking hctz 12.5mg daily for over 5 years and recently switched doctors. I requested a refill on my hctz 12.5mg and had it filled at a different pharmacy. I was given hydrochlorot 12.5mg to take and they are not as effective as a diuretic as hctz 12.5. Why is this? My pharmacist thinks I'm ridiculous for feeling this way.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
You are taking this diuretic for more than 5 year.
Hydrochlorat (also known as Hydrochlorothiazide, or abbreviated as HCTZ) is a diuretic that is used to lower high blood pressure.
HCTZ causes your body to get rid of excess salt and water. (this increases the amount of urine you make).
When you take such drug for very long time hardly any diuretic effect but antihypertensive effect is there so do not worry.
If it is possible to get same preparation then take it otherwise continue the medicine there will not be ant problem.
Take Care.
Good Luck.
