What Antibiotic Can One Take For Tooth Infection While On A Combination Of Vancomycin And Flagyl?
I had a severe case C-diff 11months ago and was on a combination of Vancomycin and Flagyl for treatment. It has not reoccurred but I currently have a low grade tooth infection and my dentist is wanting to go on an antibiotic. I am also allergic to penicillin and need to know what antibiotic is best for me.

Hi,
This question is not easily answered, as bacteria and resistance levels differ extremely in relation to where you are located geographically. Due to miss- and overuse of antibiotics in some parts of the world.
If you are from Norway, India or USA - you could end up with three different answers. Obviously you dentist is the expert here. A common suggestion, taking your allergies into account, would be Clindamycin daily.

Since you seem to be allergic to penicillin, the best effective alternative to treat tooth infection is with Azithromycin which may be taken along with Vancomycin and Flagyl.
