What Are Mometasone Furorate Cream And Mupirocin Ointment Prescribed For?
Hi, I m 69 and Monday I will fly to Australia, going near the rain forest. I have bad reaction to mosquito bites and the doctor prescribed two medications: Mometasone Furorate Cream USP 0.1% and Mupirocin Ointment USP 2%. I can t reach my doctor before I leave, what is the difference of the two medications for my specific needs? When to use the first and when to use the second? Thank you very much, Roberto
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I have gone through your complaints. Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic and Mometasone is a steroid. For mosquito bites you need to mix both on the palm in equal amounts and apply on the affected areas twice daily.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
