good morning,I hope that my message finds you well. I would like to ask about sizodon syrup overdose. Well last night my wife has drunk sizodon syrup half a bottle. Will this cause any serious problems? What is the first aid to be taken for her. Will it could be a any serious issue. By the grace of God she is normal now. But i want to know what is the remedy for her. Thanks and Regards Umar Ali
Sizodone syrup consists of RISPERIDONE and this is an antipsychotic drug. It is known to cause side effects especially Extra Pyramidal Side effects. Overdose may cause acute muscle dystonia. This is characterised by torticollis, dystonia of neck and shoulder but in severe cases may cause laryngeal dystonia which can prove serious. As she consumed high dose I would advise you to take her to emergency room for management. Drugs like promethazine help to reverse acute dystonia. Tryhexyphenidyl along with risperidone prevents these side effects.
Hope this helps you, keep the medicines out of her reach in near future.
Thanks
