Hi,
Libotryp contains both
amitriptyline and
chlordiazepoxide which is used to treat depression associated with anxiety. This medicine helps in regulating one's mood and reduces anxiety. The side effects of Libotryp for long term use are nausea, vomiting,
constipation, confusion, difficulty in micturition, depression, increased heart beat, memory impairment, allergic reactions.
Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may increase the risk of adverse effects like worsening anxiety, headache, shakiness, nausea, vomiting,
muscle cramps,
stomach cramps, seizures, weakness, insomnia etc, especially if she has been using a high dose for a long duration. A gradual dose reduction is recommended to avoid these reactions. Don't stop the use of this medication without consulting your doctor.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
