What Are Perimenopause Symptoms?

I am a 46 year old woman who has always had regular periods up until this year. Since January my period has been coming every other week or every two weeks. I ve had an internal sonogram and X-ray and the only thing that was found were a couple of fibroids. Nothing concerning yet my periods are still irregular. Is this simply peri menopause and I have to just live with it or should I call my doctor again?

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Irregular periods can occur in perimenopausal women, however the cycles become prolonged rather than shortened. Irregular periods can also be due to hormonal disturbances or due to local lesions in cervix or vagina including cervical cancer.
I would suggest you to get a pap smear and endometrial biopsy done to rule out any endometrial or cervix carcinoma.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
