What Are Recurring Lightheadedness And Headaches Suggestive Of In A 19-year-old?

Hello. I m XXXX and i m 19 years old. for the past 6 months, I have been feeling really light-headed and completely out of focus. Also, these past week, I ve been having headaches almost everyday. I had a history of having Mitral Valve Prolapse since I was born. I was just wondering what things I can do and should this be a huge concern? Thank You.

Hello,

Conditions like hypotension and migraine with aura are possibilities. As first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If symptoms persist, better to consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI brain to rule out possible intracranial (inside the brain) causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
