hello doctor.please help me.my last period date 17/8/11.i did my upt test several time.it saw negative.doctor adviced me to take t-registron tablet 6 for 3days.i took from 7/10/11.idid cross examine to another dotor.she did ultrasnowgraphy immediately and gave me yasmine 21 tablet.i took it from 12/10/11 and my period was not come.i visit my doctor again and this time she told me that i am pregnent.my question if carry my baby what would be sideeffect happen.can i carry my baby?i am a 30 years old woman

Hi,

Yasmine tablet contains Drospirenone and Ethinyl estradiol which are synthetic analogues of the natural hormones in the body. It helps in contraception by changing the vaginal secretion which prevents the motility of the sperm, prevents the uterine endometrial changes and also prevents the ovulation and release of egg.

Side effects of the drug are nausea, vomiting, breast tenderness, etc. There are no proven studies confirming adverse effects on the developing fetus on exposure to combined oral contraceptives during the period of pregnancy. So, you can carry the pregnancy without any fear. Anomaly scan done during the 5th month of gestation helps to identify the probable birth defects earlier. Discuss with your Obstetrician for further management.
