What Are Symptoms Of Having Hives?

My 24 year daughter who lives with us yesterday tells me she has hives probably because she switched shampoos and conditioners for her hair. Today she texts me and says it is not hives . I want to know if there is a web site I can go to look at pictures to better know what she has. I do not want to go to the doctor unless it really necessary.

Hi

Since you are suspecting hives in your daughter, I would advise you to type urticaria skin lesions and look up for its images on the internet.
The causes can be varied: any drug intake, Intestinal infection, respiratory infection, thyroid disease, intake of preservative containing food stuffs etc etc..
Hope she is not on any medicines since long term.
Pain killers, antipyretics, Antibiotics are the common agents causing itching.
You can try if you can find out the pathology.
For the time being, start with some anti histamines like Loratidine twice a day for atleast 2 weeks.
She might need a tapering course of these medicines.
So if itching persists, consult a dermatologist for proper evaluation.

Hope it helps ,
Wishing you speedy recovery .
