Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has recommended that I take prolio. He recommended it 2 years ago, and after I read the reviews I refused to take it. I have had the following broken bones in the last 6 years: 2 broken vertebrae - T 12 and L3, 3 broken right ribs, 1 broken left rib, a broken right hand, on July 12, 2017, a broken elbow which required surgery and a broken pelvis. I am 93 years old. He ordered prolio and I became aware of the order when Walgreen s notified me today. I think I am too old and I don t think the results that are projected justify taking this injection at this time. What do you think/recommend? YYYY@YYYY
The drug contains number of side effects low calcium levels (especially if you have kidney problems), weakness, constipation, back pain, muscle pain, pain in your arms and legs, anemia, diarrhea, or skin problems (eczema, blisters, dry skin, peeling, redness, itching, small bumps).
Benefits always outweigh risks, so if risk more than benefits then better to do not take the drug. You can use bisphosphonate for the treatment. Please consult your doctor; he/she will guide you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
