What Are The Causes For Sharp Pain In Leg And Swelling?

Hi. My name is John. The other morning when I woke up an was getting out of bed, I coughed an a VERY sharp pain shot down my leg. It was like glass shattered under my skin. Now my leg is swelled up real big when I put it up the swelling go down a little. I've used heat an Ice but nothing works. But I get up I can feel it swelling back up only to get bigger.

Hot, sore, swollen legs during and after exercise may be caused by thrombophlebitis -- arterial swelling caused by a blood clot.
I advice you to take a doppler ultrasouds examination of your blood vessels of your leg. The right treatement for this are the anticoagulants.
