What Are The Chances Of STD Transmission Through Oral Sex?

I am a male and performed oral sex on a woman who s status i am unsure of. I have read that gonorrhea and chlamydia could be passed , although rare. My question is could i have gotten oral gonorrhea/chlamydia and if so what would be the chances of me passing it on from my mouth/throat to the genitals of another partner (woman)?

Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Almost all the STD's like gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, syphilis etc can be transmitted through oral sex apart from anal as genital sex.
If the lady in question had one or more of the above, it is likely that she may have passed it to you.
I would suggest that you visit a sexual health clinic for a swab test for gonnorhea and chlamydia. A waiting period of 2 weeks before you go for these test would be advisable else it would be too early to be detectable.
Herpes can be tested earliest at 2 weeks with a blood test (HSV ELISA) to detect for antibodies.
Syphilis too can be tested for with a VDRL/RPR test at about 1 month after the risky sexual encounter.
HIV testing can be done with a screening test (Rapid spot test) at about 1 month after risky sexual encounter and should be repeated again at 3 months to cover for the window period (which is 3 months).
It would be better if you can abstain from sexual activity with your partner till you are through all the tests and declared clean
