What Are The Chances Of Genital Disorders In Inbred Children?

good morning doctor. i m 27 years old Malaysian Indian lady. My cousin and I are in love. We planned to get married soon. But recently I have some doubts. Is there a high chance for us to get disabled kids? is there any possiblities for us to overcome this problem. I m confused. kindly need your advice.

Based on your query, my opinion is
1. Yes, risk of genetic disorders in offsprings is high in consanguineous marriage.
2. The risk is highest with first degree consanguinity and decreases with second and third degree. Its less when married to distant relatives.
3. In your case the chances needs to be assessed depending on the degree of consanguinity between you and your cousin.
4. Prevention of disorders is possible to some extent based on prenatal counselling/screening and screening during pregnancy for common disabilities/ genetic disorders.
