What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy With Light Pink Discharge?
Hi, I have been on the contraceptive pill Yasmin for around 3 years. Recently I have been put on flucloxacillin for impetigo. I have been taking the antibiotics since wed 19th. However, I have double backed my pill as I'm going away today and I've had very very light bleeding. More like pinky discharge. And had unprotected sex last night? What are my chances I'm pregnant? And should I stop taking my tablets or wait til my pill packets finished in two weeks to see if I have a proper period?
It is a common misconception that antibiotics interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. This is not the case. The only antibiotic that his been shown to affect birth control pills is called Rifampin. This is not what you are taking currently for the impetigo. So, if you have changed how you take your pill, it is not suprising that there has been a change in your cycle / bleeding. The chance of pregnancy is no greater than it was when you were not taking the antibiotic ( I hope that this helps and good luck!
